Baking my way to the finish line

The time has finally come, 5 long laborious months stuffing myself with baked goods to pass the time. But the time has come, I've made it. Time to travel. But to finish my last shift as a barista, I thought I should end on a sweet note. I made cupcakes to thank my Nero family for being so lovely to me. With one of my colleges being a chef in his previous job the pressure was on.

The classic butter icing cupcake with orange peel in the sponge to add a bit of zing. And I'll tell you when I tried them the night before they were good, rave reviews. However leave them in the fridge  overnight then serve them the next day, mmmm apparently not so good.

'The hardest things I've ever tasted, these could seriously injure someone if used as a weapon' not quite what I was going for.

But I will admit they were dense, as dense as Joey Essex on a good day, however similarly, like Joey, they were loveable. With the very childlike 'thank you' squished on the top, they were warmly received.. Until tasted.

So a little note of advise, don't put them in the fridge. Unless it's world war three and you want some ammunition. They will shrink and be hard enough to break a tooth. Luckily I'm flying out of the country away from the possible damage a may have caused. Adios.
